Vision Care
Vision Care is subject to the deductible of the Extended Health Benefits Plan.
Reimbursement of 100% of eligible eye care expenses, up to a maximum of $300 per person every 24 consecutive months following the actual purchase date of the first Vision Care item claimed.
Eligible Vision Care expenses include the cost of:
• Laser eye surgery (including costs for foldable lens implants) when performed by an Ophthalmologist or Medical Practitioner.
• Eyeglasses (frame and/or lenses).
• Contact lenses.
• Replacement glasses.
• Repairs to existing glasses which have been damaged.
• One eye examination every 24 consecutive months (limited to usual, customary and reasonable charges).
Eligible Vision Care expenses must be prescribed by a licensed Medical Practitioner, Ophthalmologist, or Optometrist.
Exclusions and Limitations
Manitoba Blue Cross shall not pay for the following:
• Charges for the fitting for eyeglasses.
• Orthoptics, vision training, subnormal vision aids, and aniseikonic lenses.
• Non-corrective sunglasses, photo sensitive or anti-reflective lenses or clip-ons.
• Lenses which do not require a Prescription from a Medical Practitioner, Ophthalmologist, or Optometrist.
