BENEFICIARY /Spouse
You should be aware that under the terms of pension legislation, benefits following your death (before retirement) are payable automatically to your Spouse if you are married or party to a common-law relationship at the time of your death.
When you retire, you are also required to take your pension in a joint form with your Spouse (as described earlier, in this booklet), unless your souse waives their rights by completing and filing a prescribed form before the pension is to commence.
